FAQ
What to know.
Four things: enter your addresses and dates, approve the plan, sign the authorization, and upload one set of documents. After that we handle the filing and the follow-ups, and you watch it move.
Overlap of services could happen for two reasons. The first if your scheduled start stop dates overlap with each other since those are the dates you are authorizing us to communicate to the utility. The second would depend how far in advance you allow us to reach out to the utilities. Most utilities need more than 24 hours notice to complete a connection or disconnection with some taking up to a week or longer.
No provider will open an account in your name without verifying who you are. Water, gas and electric all want the same proof, so you give it to us once and we submit it to each of them. We ask for the minimum each accepts and tell you where every document goes.
Most moving concierge services will hand you a contact list or route you to a provider and stop there. The ones that genuinely open and close utility accounts work with property managers, in volume. We do that work for one household at a time.
Yes, and it is most of the value. Each provider accepts a slightly different set, so we check that what you gave us is the right document, current, and matching the name on the account before anything is submitted. Catching a mismatch on our side takes a minute. Catching it after submission means days of back and forth with the utility.
Sometimes, and we will tell you before it holds anything up. Most providers run a credit check to decide whether a deposit is required and how large it is, and a freeze stops that check from going through. If yours is frozen we will say which bureau to lift, and a temporary lift of a few days is usually enough. Keeping your credit frozen the rest of the time is good practice, and we would not ask you to undo it permanently.
It happens, and it is ours to sort out. We see the response, tell you plainly what is needed, and resubmit as soon as we have it. Your dashboard shows the item as needs you only if the fix is something we cannot supply ourselves, and your dates do not move unless the provider will not accommodate them.
Right after you sign for the new place. Most moves are workable in the week of, but some water districts and deposits need lead time. If we cannot finish a line item ourselves, it comes off your invoice and you get the file we assembled.
